Fixing Up a 66

Charles Hines of Colorado City, Texas shares with us a very informative description about what it took to get his Father's All-Crop 66-B in working condition. This is Part 2 of his project in his own words. Nice job Charles!

Rebuilding the upper draper floating frame.

Here is the 20 ga. stainless sheet metal I used to line the concave and separator floor.   The top rectangle you see marked off is about 32" X 72" for the separator floor.  That left about 16" width (48"-32") for the bottom rectangle which I used for the concave.  There is a man on the internet who used 16 ga. stainless to line his concave and he said it was too thick.  Well, I can tell you that 20 ga. is also too thick.  I think 26 ga. would work fine if you can find some that thin.  Also, if I were doing it again, I would just use regular steel instead of stainless.

Here I'm test fitting the concave liner.  I pushed it down into place, and then set some heavy tool boxes on top of it to hold it down while I crawled underneath and marked off the concave bar holes.

Test fitting the separator floor liner.

Here is the separator liner in place.  I put some silicon adhesive caulk underneath it and around the edges (the white stuff you see) and there are 5 screws going through it at the far left hand side of the separator.

I used 1" square tubing to replace the wooden reel spokes.

New wooden chain guides

Replaced the old grain drag chain with new.

Rebuilt floating frame installed.
